What's Actually Included in a R550 Google Business Profile Setup
Google Business Profile itself costs nothing to create. Google does not charge for the listing, the map pin, or the reviews. So the honest question is: what are you actually paying for when an agency charges to set one up?
The parts most businesses get wrong doing it themselves
A Business Profile with just a name and address technically exists, but it will not do much for you. The profiles that actually pull in calls and direction requests have a few things done properly, and most business owners either skip them or get them wrong the first time round.
- Category selection: choosing the primary and secondary categories that actually match how people search, not just the most obvious label
- A written description that uses the terms real customers search for, without reading like keyword stuffing
- Photos and cover images sized and chosen to look credible in search and on Maps
- Services and attributes filled in completely, which affects what queries you show up for
- A review strategy, since review count and recency are one of the biggest local ranking factors
What our R550 setup covers
For a once-off R550, we do a full profile setup or a full audit and fix of an existing one: category and service selection, description and photo optimization, and guidance on building reviews. It is a single, proper setup, not a monthly retainer. Compare that to the R1,500 to R4,000 a month some agencies charge for ongoing Business Profile management, and it is easy to see why a once-off fix is the right starting point for most small businesses.
If you already have a profile and it is not pulling its weight, that is the most common situation we see, and it is usually fixable in one pass rather than a monthly contract.
When you would need more than a once-off setup
If you are in a genuinely competitive category, like an emergency service or a category with dozens of nearby competitors, ongoing review management and posting can matter more. But for the large majority of local businesses, a properly done once-off setup is what actually moves the needle, not a recurring bill.
