Is a R250 Logo Actually Worth It? An Honest Answer

R250

Search around and you will find plenty of design agencies warning that a cheap logo is a false economy, that anything under a few thousand rand gets you a low-effort file that will embarrass you within a year. Some of that is genuine advice. Some of it is agencies protecting a higher price point. Here is the honest version.

What a R250 logo should get you

Done properly, even at R250 you should walk away with custom concepts (not a stock icon with your business name typed next to it), a round of revisions on the direction you choose, and proper files, PNG, SVG, and PDF, in colour and black and white. That covers a website, social media, a sign, and a business card without anything looking pixelated or wrong.

What it won't include

What you are not paying for at R250 is weeks of brand strategy work, competitor positioning research, a full visual identity system with defined typography and colour rules, or unlimited revisions across multiple completely different directions. That is real work, and it is priced accordingly elsewhere, ours included, in our full Branding & Identity package.

Who a R250 logo is actually right for

  • A new business that needs to look credible now and can revisit branding once there is revenue to justify it
  • A side hustle or small trade business where the logo needs to work, not win awards
  • Someone replacing a genuinely bad DIY logo with something a designer actually built

Who it is not right for: an established company doing a full rebrand, or a business where the brand identity is core to a bigger positioning play. That is a different job with a different price, and any agency telling you otherwise either is not scoping it properly or is trying to upsell something you do not need yet.

If you are not sure which one you are, tell us what stage your business is at and we will tell you straight which package actually fits, not just the one that costs more.
